am reposting here these brilliant words from gerry arnedo (b83) for sano bawozo...

I used to call him the “Great Pang-Bawi” The only somber and sane voice among the boisterous, rowdy crowd that the Class of ’83 was in its heyday. As a class, we could be considered crass and arrogant and too confident in our wise-ass ways. Except that it would not be fair, because we had Fr. Jimmy in our group, and he was the antithesis of all that.

To say that he was well-grounded and humble is a gross understatement. Fr. Imbo had this wise-beyond-his-years sense of self. He knew he was more than intelligent, and yet saw no sense in calling the world’s attention to it. He was an Oak among Cherry Blossoms, unspectacular in the display of his hues but definitely the steadiest of the lot. You could say he died as he lived, choosing the most quiet of ways, leaving in his sleep, leaving while all of us were asleep. He would have it no other way

From 2010 Dodge City Daily Globe Original article here..

Father Jimmy Barrozo, 44, died Thursday, Oct. 29, 2010, at the Catholic rectory in Meade.

He was the parochial administrator of St. John the Baptist, Meade; St. Anthony, Fowler; and St. Patrick, Plains.

From 1997 to 2000, Father Barrozo served at Lady of Penafrancia Seminary at Sorsogon as spiritual director, academic formator and dean of students. Batch 83's Reunion

here's a post from batch 83 about their latest reunion. featuring the recently found fr. imbo... more pix and funny kwentos at their blog!!!

A Tale of Two Reunions-Part 1-Finding the Lost Shepherd

You have all heard of the parable of the lost sheep, right? How about the lost shepherd? Its not in the Bible, but in the lores of the class of '83. The class " pambawi" ( sa mga kabuangan natun) Fr. Imbo Barrozo surfaced and happily we had an excuse to have the first of the get-togethers last August 13 at the Eastwood City. Fr. Imbo is about to leave for a three year assignment with Sorsogon's "sister" diocese Kansas. Aside from Jayhawks, Kansas is known for their excellent beef - basi lamang yadto si Baka-King, Cula, matuparan man ni Fr. Imbo.

Captured and not about to let go! Gerrox shows Fr. Imbo how much he has been missed by the class of '83

We came back here (Adelaide) to spend our New Year celeb. with some "Filo" (Aussie slang for Filipino) friends at Glenelg. We watched a live band in the park and amazing fireworks just after the New Year countdown. We head up to our place at around 1AM to continue the "reverie" (tinumba an 1/2 "slab" aka case of beer, a whisky and a bottle of wine into the wee hours of the morning (Jan 1).. er, 9:00 in the morning na pala :-)...)! Well, holiday season is over now yet the good memories still cling on so I look forward to another one at the end of the year! Enjoy mga sano...

Miaco kidz... taken at Harbor Town (Adelaide)

The family and I also went for a road trip around the peninsula... visiting places like Edithburgh, Coobowie, Warooka, Marion Bay etc. plus the huge Innes National Park wherein a "ghost town" is located called Inneston. This town was established in the early 1900's but abandoned not long after. Some of the town buildings and other residential homes are still standing (most are in ruins) and a few are restored without the inhabitants though. BTW, we saw a mother and child kangaroo in one of the streets just watching us as we passed them. I said to them, "Merry Xmas... makikiraan lang po kami!!!", but they just ignored me. Hmmmp, mga "snob"! :-)

As usual, same as last year... I am sharin' to you all sanos some of our holiday pix basi may maimud man lang na bag-o dini sa Tambayan ;-)...

Well, it was an excellent holiday for the family. We spent our Xmas holiday sa Stansbury, a coastal town. This place is very good for fishing, crabbing, swimming and other coastal area activities as you know it. Mayad kay may mga crabs kami na nakuwa para isuda sa panigab-i nan pulutan ko pa of course :-)! Stansbury is up Yorke Peninsula.
